About Us
The Health Professions Discipline Tribunals (HPDT) is a group of neutral, independent administrative tribunals that decide, in accordance with the public interest, allegations of professional misconduct and incompetence against registrants or former registrants of six Ontario health profession colleges. HPDT Tribunals also decide applications for reinstatement brought by former registrants.
Hearing panels include public and professional members and are chaired by an experienced adjudicator. Tribunal hearings are similar in format to court hearings, and all decisions are publicly available on each college’s website.
The Tribunal Chair has responsibility for operations and adjudication across the colleges. In adopting the tribunal model and cross-appointing its Chair and experienced adjudicators, the six health profession colleges share resources, align processes, and enhance disciplinary independence while reducing costs and streamlining operations.
